Rice Mill Expansion and Control System Modernization

As part of a production expansion project at a large-capacity rice mill, a major Food & Beverage manufacturer has decided to invest in a control system modernization. McEnery Automation has been selected as the control system integrator for the project due to their Rockwell Recognized System Integrator status, as well as an extensive history of delivering success with this long-time client.

Existing PLC-5 controllers reached the end-of-life phase and have limited capacity for expansion. Upgrading to Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platform will provide additional processing capacity for new processing equipment, as well as flexibility for proposed future product line expansions. The new control platform also increases system support and reliability. Existing Wonderware InTouch HMI and Historian will remain in place and will be modified for the new PLC and new process equipment.

McEnery Automation's expert level of understanding of both Rockwell and Wonderware platforms will be instrumental in completing the conversion efficiently.

The project requires that the control system upgrade be implemented during a significant process and production expansion at the mill, which will add six new equipment unit operations, rail car loading, and a 75% capacity increase for package rice.

Project startup is anticipated for 1Q20.
