A chemical manufacturer contracted with McEnery Automation to implement a Process Historian to track process data. The company wanted to find cause-effect correlations between process events by viewing trend charts of several data points over the same time span. This information would be crucial in improving product quality and process efficiency since it would focus on fixing the source of a problem instead of correcting for the result. The challenge was an opportunity to become proactive rather than reactive.

The e-Solution

We provided technical expertise in the engineering, design and programming for Wonderware’s IndustrialSQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server. Using IndustrialSQL, we imported the data definitions and source information from existing Wonderware InTouch applications so that it could be collected and logged to the Microsoft SQL Server. Industrial SQL’s tools allow plant management to view trend charts for as many data points as they want, over any time span.

The Results

Our client increased reliability by detecting problems before these issues halted production. Our e-Solutions increased quality by giving our client the ability to monitor all stages of the process rather than simply to test and adjust once the final product was produced. It also resulted in increased production since our solutions streamlined the process needed to adjust parameters and immediately view the results. Our strategic partnership with Wonderware and Microsoft gave our customer added confidence in our ability to implement the system and provide technical support to maintain the system.
